From Trieste railway station, take bus no. 20 to Muggia bus station. From there, take bus no. 7 to Lazzaretto (or bus no. 27 to Muggia Vecchia). Another way to reach Muggia from Trieste is to take the daily Delfino Verde ferry, which departs from the Maritime Station. Once you arrive at the landing pier in Muggia, turn right onto the seafront and you will find a stop for bus lines 7 and 27. If you are traveling by car, you can park in the small port of Lazzaretto (200 m away, just across the border, there is a gas station) and once you have finished your walk in Aquileia, take the bus to the Cervignano del Friuli railway station (or walk another 5 km following the Via Postumia trail) to return by train to Trieste and then to Muggia. Parking is also available near the Cervignano del Friuli railway station.
The second stage ends at Miramare Castle, where finding accommodation can be difficult. You can quickly return to Trieste for the night or for an evening visit to the city by taking bus 36, which departs from Bivio di Miramare, or bus 6, which departs from Grignano and stops at Bivio di Miramare and various other stops along the way. The following morning, you can return to the Castle to begin the third stage using the same bus lines or regional trains that stop at Miramare stazione imperiale, where the Cammino Via Flavia passes.
The Via Flavia cammino passes through tourist resorts and the city of Trieste, where it has not yet been possible to agree on guaranteed discounts on accommodation and meals for walkers/pilgrims.
